Cancellation policy:

Cancellations must be confirmed in writing. If EFMD receives notice of your withdrawal before 13 January 2020, a cancellation administrative fee of (75€ + local VAT) will be charged. Thereafter, we regret that we are unable to refund any fees.

Getting to Milano

Arriving by plane

Linate Airport
Milano Linate Airport (IATA: LIN, ICAO: LIML), officially named after Enrico Forlanini, is Milan’s city airport. It has a wide range of domestic flights and short- and medium-range of international flights. It is the closest airport to the city, being 20 minutes (by car) from the city center

Malpensa Airport
Milan Malpensa (IATA: MXP, ICAO: LIMC) is Milan’s intercontinental airport. With its wide range of destinations throughout the world, it is Northern Italy’s main hub. Malpensa operates with two passenger terminals (Malpensa Terminal 1 and Malpensa Terminal 2) and a cargo terminal (Malpensa Cargo). There are buses that connect Malpensa to the Stazione Centrale in Milan, approx. 40m ride.

Orio al Serio Airport (Bergamo)
Milano Bergamo Airport is in the center of one of the most industrialized and populated regions of Italy over 10 million inhabitants. Milan, Bergamo and Brescia are a few kilometers away from the facility. There are buses connecting Orio al Serio Airport to the Stazione Centrale in Milan, approx. 50m ride.

Travelling around Milano

Public Transportation in Milan
The area around SDA Bocconi is well served by public transport, which in Milano is operated by ATM. There are four underground lines in Milano: M1 (red), M2 (green), M3 (yellow), M5 (lilac); one (mostly underground) suburban rail link (AKA "Passante"); about 140 surface lines operated with trams and buses.

The underground, buses and trams operate from 6.00 until 00.30. During the night there is an overground replacement service for lines M1 and M3; the 90 and 91 buses operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. “Night bus” lines run on Friday and Saturday nights.

The ordinary ticket costs €2.00 (3-fare zones Mi1 - Mi3) and it is valid for 90 minutes from when it’s first stamped and can be used on overground lines as well as on underground and urban railway lines (S lines). The fare is higher if you travel outside the city limits.

There are also: 10-trip tickets, daily ticket (valid for 24 hours), 3-day ticket (valid for 3 consecutive days).

You can buy ATM tickets at any of the around 2.200 authorized outlets (bars, tobacconists, stationers, newspaper stands) found throughout the Milan area and on intercity routes. At Piazza Duomo underground station there is an ATM Point, where you can obtain information and buy tickets. The tickets are also available via the ATM MILANO APP.

You can also buy underground tickets at all underground stations from ticket machines selling various types of tickets; these machines accept both coins and bank notes, credits cards and bank cards. Children aged to 14 travel free of charge on ATM vehicles.

The ticket must be kept with the passenger until the end of the journey and must be shown to the control staff, if/when required, even at the destination stop or leaving the metro turnstiles.

The nearest underground station to SDA Bocconi School of Management is Porta Romana (M3). You can reach the School with tram #9.

An automated taxi booking service is available from the reception desk in Via Bocconi 8 and Via Roentgen 1 (in face of the Aula Magna building). The staff will be happy to assist you with this.

BikeMi is Milano’s new bike sharing service:  easy, convenient and green. There are three BikeMi points near the School.


The centre of Milano is a restricted traffic area -called Area C- and access by car is subject to a fee. SDA Bocconi is located outside of Area C. The above mentioned car sharing service fees include Area C access. The tickets to Area C can be purchased on www.atm.it/en.

How to reach SDA Bocconi

From Stazione Centrale
Stazione Centrale is located in Piazza Duca d’Aosta. From there, take the M3 line (yellow) towards San Donato. Get up at Porta Romana and take tram 9. Get off at Porta Lodovica for Via Roentgen 1.

The journey lasts approximately 30 minutes and the ticket costs € 2,00.

The distance by taxi is approximately 20 minutes and the cost is about € 20,00.

From the airport
Linate: Take bus 73 and change at XXII Marzo-V Giornate. Then take tram 9 and get off at Porta Lodovica for Via Roentgen 1. The journey lasts approximately 40 minutes and the ticket costs € 2,00. The distance by taxi is approximately 20-25 minutes and the cost is about € 20,00.

Malpensa: Malpensa Express. A one-way ticket costs € 13,00; 30-day roundtrip ticket costs € 20,00. The train stops at Cadorna - Ferrovie Nord station. From there, take the M2 undergound line (green) to P.ta Genova, and tram 9 to Porta Lodovica for Via Roentgen 1. The journey lasts approximately 50 minutes and the tickets cost: € 13,00 + € 2,00. The distance from Cadorna-Ferrovie Nord station to Bocconi by taxi is approximately 15 minutes and the cost is about € 15,00. The distance from Malpensa airport to Bocconi by taxi is approximately 60 minutes and the cost is € 90,00.

There is also a shuttle bus service from Malpensa to Stazione Centrale. The journey lasts approximately 50 minutes and the ticket costs € 10,00.

From the motorway

Milan enjoys a mild temperate Mediterranean climate. The average annual temperature is 15ºC with not too hot summers and mild winters, rarely below 5ºC. There is light rainfall mainly in autumn and at the beginning of spring. Average temperature in February is max 10°/min 3°.

The organizers of the Conference do not provide insurance and do not take responsibility for any loss, accidental damage or illness that might occur during the event, or in the course of travel to or from the meeting.

Participants are therefore strongly recommended to arrange for their own personal insurance.

Bank and money exchange
The closest bank, located within the University area, is Banca Popolare di Sondrio, via Bocconi 8. Opening hours: 8:30am-1:30pm; 2:45-3:45pm.

Tourist tax
The tourist tax, introduced by the City Council with Resolution n. 19 of 11 June 2012, applies to all the residents staying at hotels and at all other accommodation facilities within Milan. There are fixed rates ranging from € 2.00 to € 5.00 for each night of stay in accordance with the class and number of stars of the accommodation facility.

Emergency room
In case of an emergency, you should call the Ambulance Service: tel. 118. As an alternative, you can also go to an Emergency Room at one of the hospitals in the city, where patient care is given in urgent and emergency cases. Priority is not given according to the order of arriving but according to the seriousness of the emergency. Emergency Room care is free of charge for all emergency situations, while a ticket fee must be paid for non-urgent cases.

Night pharmacies
Whenever you need to purchase medicine after the normal pharmacy opening hours, you can:

- call the toll free number 800.801185 (“Pronto Farmacia” in Italian), which provides information about pharmacies and their opening hours in the city and near Milan, available 24 hours a day.

- go to one of the two pharmacies always open in Milan: at the Central Station or at Porta Garibaldi station.

Please note that according to Italian law, smoking is forbidden anywhere inside buildings, offices, restaurants and lobbies.

Lost and Found
The “Comune” of Milano runs a lost and found office in Via Friuli 30, tel. +39 0288453900. A simple report is required for each item lost. The payment of a small fee may also be required for each day that the item has been kept in storage. Opening hours: Monday to Friday:  08:30-12:00/13:00-15:30.

You are advised to report lost wallets or passports to your Consulate since these may be forwarded to the local Consulate rather than to the Lost and Found Office.

Police Report “denuncia”: lost or stolen items must be reported to the police for insurance purposes or for the reissue of identity documents, driving licence etc. You may make your report (“Denuncia”) at the “Questura–Polizia di Stato”, or at your nearest “Carabinieri” station. The closest to the School is “Commissariato Porta Ticinese”, Via Tabacchi 6, tel. +39 028330181. Be very careful of your personal belongings when travelling on public transport, when walking through crowded shopping areas, or browsing in busy shops. Keep your handbag (purse) close to you and don’t hook it on the back of a chair when eating in a bar or restaurant.
