What prevents Learning and Development from effectively demonstrating its impact on the business?
According to a study by Watershed, the biggest challenge is competing priorities, followed by limited access to data. However, the key differentiator between those who successfully measure impact and those who struggle is mindset—specifically, the ability to align learning solutions with business priorities and objectives.
In its second edition, we build on the rich insights uncovered by our LIFT-certified learning functions — and draw on more than 40 real-world use cases developed by over 20 learning teams — to explore how they’ve ensured their learning programmes deliver measurable business impact, aligned with stakeholder needs and expectations.
This Masterclass is designed for Learning and Development professionals who partner with clearly defined business stakeholders—typically in corporate settings or custom-programme environments.
To ensure a coherent cohort, registrations will be subject to a brief pre-selection process.
You will learn to implement a systematic approach using the Results Chain Framework, which connects inputs, outputs, outcomes, and impact—ensuring that L&D drives meaningful business results.
We will deliver the learning solution as a virtual Masterclass designed for learning practitioners. At the core of the participants’ experience will be a real-world project, either one you or your team are currently developing or one you have previously worked on. This project will be the foundation for creating a learning impact use case, allowing you to apply theoretical concepts to practical scenarios. This hands-on approach ensures the learning remains relevant, actionable, and deeply rooted in real-world practice.
Upon successful completion of their masterclass, participants will be awarded a badge.

Week of 13 April
Prework
You will receive a series of short eLearning modules to understand the basic elements relevant for measuring learning impact (approximately 30 minutes). This would include:
You would then complete a diagnostic of your current approach to impact. This will be submitted a few days prior to the virtual classroom session to produce a composite view of the results.
13:00 – 15:00 CEST
Main Session
Part I: A flipped classroom to ensure you have retained the key concepts of impact presented in the eLearning modules.
Part II: Introduction to the use case approach that brings together the elements of measuring learning impact. It will be illustrated by examples coming from an EFMD CLIP-accredited organisation and a LIFT-certified organisation.
Part III: You will start thinking of a use case you can develop within your own learning function. You will be put into trios to discuss, then return to plenary to share your initial thoughts. These trios will become coaching groups for you to continue the exchange on your use cases (this will be done between the Virtual Classroom and the Wrap-up). The session will conclude with you developing and submitting the use case. Each submission will be reviewed, and you will receive personalised feedback.
Use cases submission
11:00 – 12:30 CEST
Wrap-up Session
In this session, you will share the use cases you have developed. Key learnings will be reviewed. We will end with EFMD awarding a badge to participants who have attended the two virtual classroom sessions and successfully submitted use cases for review.
