Helping students prepare their career paths and find work placements is a crucial part of the student experience and a fundamental value added component of every educational institution. It has become increasingly complex to respond to students’ expectations and simultaneously engage with them in meaningful ways.

The EFMD Career Services Conference focuses specifically on the issues career services professionals face as they navigate the current realities of work, specifically in the areas of: recruitment, job mobility, internationalisation, employability, and trends in the labour market. At the same time career professionals need to be aware and up to date with all the technological advancements that have impacted how career services are offered.

Target group:
Directors of career services and business school career services staff involved in the strategic decisions of career services.

Please note that this conference is for professionals in career services only: we will not accept third party providers.

Conference Theme:
A career in careers: Spotlight on us

This conference will look at the role of the Career services professional from various perspectives, ensuring participants understand the depth of their profession and preparing them to be even more effective in their roles at their institutions. The sessions will addresses fundamental questions such as: What is the role and purpose of a careers professional? How do you define what a (successful) career professional is? What are the different stakeholder expectations that need to be managed? Ferris wheel fun and Christmas markets in historic Vienna.

Participants will be asked to RSVP on day 1 of the conference.

Join your peers and our local hosts for a ride on the famous Wiener Riesenrad (Viennese Ferris wheel). The Wiener Riesenrad, is a 64.75-metre tall Ferris wheel at the entrance of the Prater amusement park in Leopoldstadt, the 2nd district of Austria’s capital Vienna. It was created to celebrate the golden jubilee of Emperor Franz Josef I in 1897, and is one of the earliest Ferris wheels ever built! It is located a short 15 mins walk from the WU campus, and the ride takes approximately 15 to 20 minutes.

Should you need to bring your luggage with you to catch a flight or train, nearby the Riesenrad is station “Praterstern”.

If weather permits, following the Riesenrad we will visit one of Vienna’s most scenic and picturesque Christmas markets – the Christmas Village in front of the Belvedere Palace. From the markets is a 10 min walk to the main station (called “Südtiroler Platz/Hauptbahnhof” )

It is not mandatory to stay for the Christmas markets as tickets are not necessary however as tickets would need to be purchased for the Ferris wheel we will ask for RSVP during the first day of the conference.
