The experiment with different forms of travel was prompted by initiatives undertaken by Lancaster University in response to its declaration of a climate emergency in 2020. One aspect of the response to the declaration was to reconsider when to travel for work and how to travel. This led to a curiosity as to whether it would be possible to travel in a low carbon way to the EFMD conference and what it would be like to do so.
