The EFMD Chief Learning Officer Roundtable 2026, hosted this year by IMD in Lausanne on 25 September, will bring together senior L&D leaders to explore “Building Geopolitical Resilience: From Insight to Capability.”
In an increasingly fragmented and volatile global environment, the Roundtable will examine how organisations can better understand shifting geopolitical dynamics and translate them into actionable capability building. Faculty inputs from Simon Evenett and Arturo Bris will provide a rigorous perspective on how today’s geopolitical landscape differs structurally from the past, and what this means for corporate strategy and decision-making. Examples include the reconfiguration of global supply chains, the impact of sanctions regimes on market access and partnerships, the growing importance of regulatory divergence e.g., in data governance or ESG standards, and the need to manage political risk in capital allocation and investment decisions. A special focus will lie on the implications for talent management, engagement and leadership.
A moderated panel will connect macro developments to L&D practice, featuring Forvia’s CLO David Jestaz and Matthias Reuter, global head of Leadership Excellence at Siemens, who will share how their organisations are adapting to new geopolitical realities and how they are embedding geopolitical literacy and agility into leadership development—what works, what does not, and how impact can be assessed.
The Roundtable will conclude with facilitated breakout sessions, allowing participants to reflect on implications for their own organisations and on practical approaches to capability building.
The design combines input by world-class experts, peer exchange, and applied reflection, ensuring both intellectual depth and tangible outcomes for participants.
This event is by invitation only, FREE OF CHARGE and open to Chief Learning Officers, Senior L&D leaders from member companies and guests.

“Leading People Through the Permacrisis: Geopolitics, Uncertainty, and Workforce Impact”
This session examines how the current global “permacrisis”—driven by geopolitical instability, economic fragmentation, and persistent uncertainty—reshapes the leadership agenda for people and learning leaders. It focuses on the implications for the workforce: talent attraction and retention, employee anxiety and expectations, leadership capability gaps, and the growing pressure on organisations to build resilience, adaptability, and trust at scale.

“Competitiveness today is increasingly defined by talent”
Drawing on the latest data, this session highlights a fundamental shift: the geography of talent is changing, and not always in line with where companies need it. Some countries are emerging as global talent hubs, while others are losing ground.
In a context of geopolitical fragmentation, restricted mobility, and uneven education systems, organisations face a growing mismatch between talent supply and demand.
This session moves beyond rankings to address key questions for decision-makers: where will future leaders come from, which capabilities are becoming scarce, and how should organisations respond when global talent markets become less global?
