Event details

EFMD Sustainability Synergies and Trade-offs in Management Education supports business schools in identifying, understanding and managing the synergies and trade-offs across the financial, social, environmental and institutional dimensions of sustainability.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) provide a practical logic for systemic thinking as they offer a shared language for sustainability and a way to understand how sustainability dimensions interact.

The course starts with theory on the SDGs as a system, supported by SDG experts who translate systems insights into implications for management education. It then moves to practice across the EFMD network. Through cases and peer exchange, participants explore how business schools manage synergies and trade-offs in operations, research, teaching and social impact.

A core output of the course is a participant-completed template. It is designed to map a school’s strategic goals, link these goals to the sustainability dimensions it affects and surface the most material synergies and trade-offs to manage. The template is intended to enable structured engagement and ultimately decision-making on sustainability in business schools.
