Alumni engagement is no longer just about maintaining contact—it is about building dynamic, mutually beneficial relationships that evolve over time.

But how do you create meaningful engagement when resources are limited and engagement is at an all-time low?
And how do you balance digital tools, human relationships, and data to create a sustainable engagement model?

This highly interactive 3-hour-long workshop invites participants to step back and rethink their alumni engagement strategies through a practical, structured, and peer-driven approach.

Drawing on real-world experience across institutions and platforms, the session will explore:

  • The current realities of alumni engagement across different resource environments
  • Digital engagement—and what works long-term
  • The potential and centrality of “alumnizers”
  • How to focus efforts using an engagement pyramid

Participants will actively map their own alumni engagement processes, identify strengths and gaps, and exchange practices in small peer groups. The workshop emphasises co-creation, reflection, and actionable takeaways, rather than one-way presentations.

Target group

This interactive workshop is designed for professionals involved in alumni relations within business schools, including alumni managers, advancement teams, and staff working with engagement, data, or community development, seeking to strengthen alumni impact and institutional connections.

Learning objectives

By the end of this workshop, participants will:

  • Gain a structured understanding of their own alumni engagement models and cycles
  • Identify key leverage points to increase alumni participation and loyalty
  • Learn how to mobilise highly engaged alumni as ambassadors and community builders
  • Reflect on their current processes and identify actionable improvements
  • Explore how data and knowledge management support sustainable engagement
  • Exchange practices and challenges with peers from other institutions
