Airport and Transportation

Airport

Mexico City International Airport/Benito Juárez International Airport (MEX) is the primary international airport serving Mexico City. It can take an average of 30 minutes to get from MEX to the neighborhood Polanco, or longer during peak times.

Transportation

TAXI
It is recommended that you take taxis ONLY from established stands, as they are more secure. Taxis from the Benito Juárez International Airport in Mexico City (AICM) to the Polanco area will be in a range of $280 to $380 MXN.

TAXI APPS AVAILABLE IN MEXICO CITY
In Mexico City we recommend using Uber or DiDi. They’re more secure than taxis and offer a wide range of prices and additional services.

PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION
Even though there are several options as the subway (metro), metrobus, bus lines, etc., we do not recommend using them.

TURIBUS
This system of transportation allows a general view of the main attractions of Mexico City. It has double-decker buses with the upper deck uncovered and guided tours in multiple languages. Currently, the Turibus offers two routes: Centro Histórico – Chapultepec – Reforma and a southern route that goes through Insurgentes, la Colonia Del Valle, Coyoacán, San Ángel, Tlalpan and Ciudad Universitaria.

Fares: $210 MXN
(The ticket is valid for both routes and includes all-day hop- on/hop-off privileges at any of the points of interest).

Visa

Please refer to the Mexico consulate or embassy in your country to verify if you need a visa. On this page, you will be able to see if you need a visa.

Currency

Mexico’s currency is the PESO. The exchange rate is approximately $17.00 per USD. Exchange facilities are available at airports if needed. You can view the current exchange rate here.

Weather

The average weather in Mexico City in October has a daily high around 73°F (22.8°C), rarely falling below 67°F (19.4°C) or exceeding 78°F (25.6°C). Daily low temperatures decrease by 5°F (15°C), from 54°F (12.2°C) to 49°F (9.4°C), rarely falling below 42°F (5.6°C) or exceeding 58°F (14.4°C). You can find details on the average weather in Mexico City during October here to better plan your packing.
