Optional wellbeing session – Air‑Dry Clay Workshop
Start the conference with an art therapy session designed to help participants pause, recharge, and transition into the event with focus and intention. This year the wellbeing session will give participants the chance to get hands‑on with air‑dry clay, explore the texture and feel of the material, and create a small piece to take home. Clay is a great material for grounding and helps people connect with their body and senses in a really calming way.

Careers in the Age of AI: From Adaptation to Agency
How can career services prepare students and graduates not only to adapt to an AI-driven future, but also to influence how that future develops? This keynote will examine the implications of emerging technologies for employability and lifelong learning, arguing that AI literacy requires critical judgement, ethical awareness, and an understanding of sustainability alongside robust technical capability. Drawing on the PRME Working Group on Responsible Management Education and Emerging Technologies and it’s forthcoming Toolkit for Sustainable AI, it will connect research with practical approaches to supporting responsible AI use in career development and professional practice. It will challenge career services to look beyond adapting to technological change and consider their strategic role in shaping a more fair, inclusive, and sustainable future of work.
17:00 – 18:00
Ice-breaking activity
Start the EFMD Career Services Conference by experiencing the art of meaningful connection — and how it can redefine the way we, and our students, network. This isn’t just an icebreaker; it’s an experience rooted in modern human connection that sets the tone for the entire conference. You’ll leave the room feeling safe, seen, and inspired — already part of a strong, shared community of peers and friends for the days ahead.

Strategic positioning of the Career Services
Career Services are expected to contribute to employability, institutional reputation, rankings, and strategic partnerships, yet they are still often perceived as operational support functions. This interactive session will challenge that perception by exploring how career professionals can demonstrate institutional value, influence strategic decisions, and strengthen their position within higher education. Through expert insights and collaborative discussions, participants will identify practical actions, evidence, and partnerships that can make Career Services a critical contributor to institutional success in the years ahead.
The session will feature an interactive roundtable with deans and directors of education and career services, bringing both perspectives together through real world examples to discuss collaboration, stakeholder needs and the strategic value of career services within business schools.

Improving Student Engagement in Career and Skills Development Initiatives
In an increasingly competitive and rapidly evolving labor market, universities are investing heavily in co-curricular programs designed to strengthen students’ skills, employability, and career readiness. Yet one question remains central: how can institutions successfully engage students in these voluntary opportunities and encourage sustained participation?
This session will highlight successful undergraduate engagement programs and share practical strategies for increasing student participation. Through institutional examples and best practices, participants will explore effective approaches to enhancing students’ skill development, employability, and career readiness.

This panel will explore how strategic partnerships can evolve into connected ecosystems that create lasting value, strengthen employability, support organisational growth and contribute to regional prosperity. Through practical examples and shared experiences, panellists will discuss how career services can move beyond transactional engagement to deliver meaningful impact for all stakeholders.

Redesign your workshop creatively
This interactive session invites career services professionals to rethink traditional workshop design. Moving beyond “content delivery,” participants will explore how to create engaging, learner-centered experiences through creativity, collaboration, reflection, and participation.
Using hands-on activities, redesign challenges, and practical facilitation tools, participants will experiment with methods they can immediately apply in their career workshops.
16:10 – 17:15
Careers of the future
As AI, sustainability and shifting models of work reshape careers, preparing students for the future can no longer be about predicting the jobs and skills that will matter next. In an increasingly uncertain world, we need new ways to help people understand what matters to them, recognise opportunity and make purposeful career choices as their lives and work evolve.
Drawing on The Core Career Dials book, Dan Kiernan and Sarah Rourke will introduce a fresh approach to career development designed for a world where linear career paths and predictable destinations are giving way to more dynamic and individual journeys.
This session will explore how career services can help students and graduates develop the self-awareness, agency and adaptability to navigate uncertainty, and build careers that work for them, whatever the future brings.

Who supports the supporters? This session will explore how Careers Professionals can support students through high-stakes decisions without absorbing every outcome as their own. Drawing on themes of wellbeing, self-awareness, imposter syndrome and resilience, the session will offer practical ways to protect our wellbeing, check in with ourselves, maintain healthy boundaries and continue caring deeply without carrying too much.

Fishbowl sharing of challenges and best practices
As the conference draws to a close, this fishbowl session invites participants to engage in an open and dynamic conversation about the trends, challenges, and opportunities shaping career services today. Solo Aguanta – Just Hold On: A journey of resilience, connection, and the courage to keep going
On day 3 of the Jungle Ultra, clinging to a near vertical climb in torrential rain, Katherine faced the most brutal terrain of her ultramarathon experience. The stage was called Solo Aguanta – Just Hold On. And that is exactly what she did.
In this closing keynote, Katherine weaves together her remarkable journey through 230km of Peruvian jungle with the everyday realities of helping students find their footing in a complex and competitive world. She explores what it means to navigate uncertainty, to problem-solve when everything feels impossible and to find strength in the community around you. Her message is simple, powerful, and deeply personal: the skills that carry us through the hardest moments in life are the same skills we help our students build every day. This is a keynote about resilience, connection, and the quiet courage it takes to keep going – and the profound difference it makes when someone believes in you enough to say: you’ve got this.
