The Online Teaching Academy is a certified professional development programme that equips participants with the theoretical and practical tools required to design an effective online or blended learning experience based on sound learning-design principles, best practices and trends.
This programme is delivered by leading experts in the field who will help you move beyond the crisis to deliver high-quality online learning.
Participants will learn about the value and opportunities of an online environment and how to become effective online instructors. This represents a significant opportunity for any faculty interested in orientating themselves in the online learning space who are looking to keep up with the rapidly-evolving market and explore current trends and innovations.
Target Group:
- Faculty and early-career researchers with some experience in online learning or teaching interested in designing an effective online course which goes beyond videoconferencing
- Learning design professionals with a basic knowledge of online learning design who are interested in understanding the wider landscape of teaching online at a higher education institution, updating and increasing their level of understanding

15 – 19 May 2023: Online preparation
22 May – 24 May 2023: Face to face at EDHEC Business School in Nice with a possibility to attend live online (hybrid format)
Learning outcomes:
By the end of this course, participants will be able to:
Knowledge:
- Articulate the advantages of online education to support student’s academic and professional development
- Compare and contrast different models of online and blended learning
- Identify the key challenges in online and blended learning and discuss strategies for potential solutions as well as identify tools that can be used to face these challenges
- Reflect on how to use learning analytics to gather insights into learner behaviour
- Learn about the different resources that are at their disposal when designing and delivering an online course
Skills:
- Design a blended or an online learning experience based on sound learning design principles, best practices and trends (including synchronous and asynchronous teaching)
- Create rich and holistic interactive experiences to engage students and enhance learning
- Apply different methods and tools to support online learners including: videoconferences and case discussions, videos, assessments, discussion boards, feedback, interactions, learning analytics, etc.
- Design formative and summative assessments, using a range of technology and tools suitable for online learning
Programme structure
This is a highly-interactive and practical programme. You will work in teams to redesign a pre-existing face-to-face course into an online or blended provision.
Online Preparation
Format: Online (one week: 5 hours of asynchronous work and one live online session of 90 minutes)

Format: In-person/hybrid (three full days)

- Conclusions and final reflections.
- Final Assignment: Redesign a pre-existing face-to-face course into an online or blended provision. You will be assessed on the following criteria:
- Application of concepts, structures and best practices
- Use of templates

The fee is payable prior to the programme by bank transfer/ credit card.

Information concerning VAT
Please note that the above mentioned fees are without VAT. VAT fees are applicable as follows:
Onsite participation: is charged with a 10 % FR VAT. French participants subject to VAT in France do not pay the VAT.
Online participation: VAT-free except for: Belgium participants and participants non-subjected to VAT in their country for whom a 21 % BE VAT has to be charged.
Cancellation policy
Cancellation must be confirmed in writing before the 15th of April 2023. A cancellation fee of EUR 100.00 (plus VAT if applicable) will be charged if cancellation is confirmed before 15 April 2023.
After the above mentioned date, we are unable to refund any fees. However, in such cases, substitutes are welcome at no extra cost as long as we receive notification of the name, title and address of the substitute.

Accommodation expenses are not included in the tuition fee.
