Even before the pandemic emptied campus classrooms, practitioners noticed a fall in attendance at formal lectures. Many possible causes have been rehearsed in the pedagogic literature, including the pervasiveness of recorded lectures, changing and non-traditional learner needs and the lack of learner attention. Engagement is a key factor in achieving academic success. Still, many learners struggle to consistently attend physical classes or engage with materials and peers. Understanding the reasons behind this can help universities and educators create strategies to improve engagement and enhance the overall learning experience.
In this webinar, we will explore the common causes of non-engagement with asynchronous materials and activities among campus-based and online learners. We will also discuss potential solutions and best practices for addressing these issues. Our four panelists will discuss engagement theme from many angles and we will give participants a space for follow-up discussion on key questions.
KEY TAKEAWAYS:
Key concepts to support asynchronous learning with online tools
Practical tips to promote quality assurance in online/blended learning
