Event details

Student wellbeing and engagement have been trending topics over recent years, and the urgency to achieve ‘success’ in these areas has been amplified by the impact of the global pandemic. HE institutions are increasingly being held accountable for the duty of care they provide to enrolled students at all levels. Whilst students are ultimately the main agents in their wellbeing, HE institutions should provide development opportunities and scenarios to equip graduates with adaptability and resilience for the world of work.

Alongside this resilience and growth mindset, employers are looking for students who can apply their knowledge to ‘real-world’ situations and demonstrate critical engagement. An underlying theme of this workshop is that students who can nurture their wellbeing and engage in meaningful educational experiences are likely better equipped for the next step in their careers.

In addressing engagement, we explore how students can be encouraged and supported to take ownership of their own learning journey. We consider approaches to student engagement focused on fostering an environment that drives accountability to personal goals and adds value beyond the academic offering of a programme.

This interactive networking workshop explores innovative approaches around wellbeing, engagement and the intersection between these student experience components. We will reflect on how we can create purposeful learning journeys for business and management students.

The Student Experience Workshop, run over two days, will:

  • Inspire participants to think about student wellbeing in new ways and develop their own offering in line with student experience goals
  • Introduce pioneering working practices in wellbeing, which view this as a life skill rather than a tick box exercise around student mental health
  • Explore fresh approaches to engagement in parallel to supporting student wellbeing
  • How we can nurture student involvement and expectations in their learning journeys
  • Understand how to build meaningful initiatives that promote identification with the institution for both learners and graduates, and how this can contribute to a sense of belonging and community

Target group

Programme Directors, Programme Managers, Learning Centres or any other faculty or professional services staff who have an interest in increasing student wellbeing and engagement. This may also include services around careers, student professional development and student experience.

Learning objectives

The first day of the Student Experience Workshop will focus on wellbeing, and the second on engagement. There will be time for reflection, planning and feedback. Participants will be introduced to innovative approaches by experts in the field and will then have the opportunity to shape their own ideas around these through co-creation with peers. In the spirit of EFMD, you can expect to work with peers from different institutions and countries to gain insights from across the sector.

You will learn what others are doing and consider how you may adapt ideas for your institution and in terms of the student experience you are providing. You will be given time, tools and resources to organise your thoughts and learning around this and prompted to set goals and plan for action.

Additional Information

We will admit a maximum of 20 participants to this workshop to enable an interactive experience for you.

Registration will close as soon as this number has been reached.
